Viva La Wolfe

Hailing from Denmark, Viva La Wolfe says they “draw inspiration from the raw and dirty grunge of the 90’s.As I finished listening to “In The Fields” from their album Prosperity,  I realized how much they sounded like early Black Sabbath. But there was more to it, as it also had a tinge of Alice In Chains. Prosperity takes you on a journey through the shadows of your soul, capturing the hard rock essence of Black Sabbath and  Seattle grunge sound of Alice in Chains.

As I listened to the next cut, “LAX,” I hoped the entire album wouldn’t have that “every song sounds the same style,” as the first two songs sounded very similar. But as I played “Paralysis,” my opinion quickly changed, as the band showed their diversity in a well-written and touching piece and followed it up with a refreshing acoustic guitar opening in “Long Gone.” “Justice” is as heavy a song that you will hear and again compliments Black Sabbath so well. “Breathe Out” is a nice change of pace tune, as this band continues to surprise and keep your ears off balance, never knowing what to expect from one song to the next. With “Despot,” “Leech,” and “Druids,” VlW gets back to their signature heavy metal sound, which gets better with every playback.
This band has talent but also seems to have imagination and a sense of humor, which goes a long way in making a band successful.  If you are a fan of this music genre, you will love this heavy-hitting band. Turn it up loud!
