Review: Joanne Shaw Taylor’s Rendition of Joan Armatrading’s “All the Way from America” – Released on December 15, 2023

While listening to Joanne Shaw Taylor’s latest release, a cover of Joan Armatrading’s “All the Way from America,” one could be forgiven for mistaking it as one of her own.

Distributed via legendary blues musician Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records, Joanne’s startingly beautiful voice perfectly captures the pain and strength in solitude etched into the lyrics. Boosted by extremely present and clear production, crisp guitars, and a catchy chorus, you’ll be quick to want to sing along with this refreshing rendition.

While this British musician convinces us America is as far away as the love she will never have, fans will be happy to know they can catch Joanne on her US tour in Spring 2024. Endorsed by such giants as Stevie Wonder, and Annie Lennox, be certain to expect goosebumps if you get to hear this haunting voice in person.
