Review: Bedsit Poets – All the Roads Lead Me Back-Release date: February 2, 2024
Edward Rogers and Amanda Thorpe, who combine their musical skills and knowledge as Bedsit Poets, are no newcomers. It is not only that they already have two albums as the duo, but have also an extensive experience as solo artists.
And that knowledge and experience shows so well on their third joint effort ‘ All The Roads Lead Me Back.’ And another thing that seeps through here is their original combination of English and New York City roots with the English-folk tinged ‘London Town’ and rocking ‘Pelican Club’ being prime examples.
Yet, what connects the 12 tunes here is some excellent melodic premise of every song and some assured musicianship from both Rogers and Thorpe, as well as the carefully selected list of guest musicians that have played with the likes of Ian Hunter, John Cale, Sparks, Roxy Music and Graham Parker, among others.
