Review: Otherwordly Things – Heavy Dream Cycle-Release date: February 16, 2024

It is never too late to catch on with a good set of songs, and this New York quartet Jim Browne (guitar, lead and backing vocals, violin), Matt Revie (guitar, keyboards, glockenspiel), Jason Binnick (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, cello) and Travis Harrison (drums, percussion), certainly have one on their latest 5-song EP ‘Heavy Dream Cycle.’

So, what can we expect here from a band formed some 10 years ago and had their debut gig as openers for legendary Buzzcocks?

A great power pop with hefty touches of garage rock to spice things up, and a clear cut sound that focuses on some excellent guitar work and vocal harmonies, particularly on tracks like ‘No Use’ here.

It took Jim Browne and his crew some time (three years or so) to write and record these five songs, but taking their time gave them the opportunity to fine tune them and come up with an excellent slice of melodic/power pop/rock.
