Review: Custard Flux’s single “Right Now Here in Time” – Release date January 22, 2024
Psych rock is obviously here to stay as long as there is rock music as such, and there is no debate about it – it should.
Of course, to keep things going on for the genre, the music by the artists dabbling in the field has to be good, and Gregory Curvey, the man behind Custard Flux, shows how it should be done with that band’s new single “Right Now Here I Time.”
A good paced rhythm serves as a base for some great guitar sounds and Curvey’s vocals all within modal time signatures so characteristic of psych rock.
It is good to know that Curvey is also a founding member of Chicago psych-prog band The Luck of Eden Hall, but Custard Flux is a Detroit thing and also includes Vito Greco on guitars, Timothy Prettyman on bass, and Nick Pruett on the drum kit.
Based on the single psych rock fans should be excited about their upcoming album Einsteinium Delirium to be released on Friday, June 7 via the label Friends Of The Fish (a subsidiary of Fruits de Mer Records, UK), another exciting indie rock label.
