Review: The Fades –Looking for Keanu – Release date May 17, 2024
Usually, when an upcoming artist or a band releases a song inspired by another big artist – a musician, actor, or whatever, it is usually just a reverence reference to a big name.
This time around, South London garage rockers add a bit of a personal element and a more substance to the proceedings with their single ‘Looking For Keanu.’
Having heard a rumor that Keanu Reeves was filming around the corner from their rehearsal studios just after experiencing a midlife breakup, the band’s singer and guitarist Dave Lightfoot here imagines bumping into Keanu on the street, hanging out and going back to the studio with him for a jam together, turning the imaginary event into a lifelong friendship…
The band turn the imaginary inspirational moment into a light-hearted garage rocker with some nifty guitars and harmony vocals, making a song quite a delight.
No wander The Fades have been picking up a buzz, both in England and in The U.S. recently with their mayhem-style live shows that include a penchant for multi-band clothes swapping on stage!
