Rock At Night Video Premiere: UK Band The Speed of Sound’s ‘The Same River’

ROCK AT NIGHT VIDEO PREMIERE

The Speed of Sound

EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE of the Speed of Sound’s “The Same River”- Worldwide release date–August 20, 2024

A Cornucopia is a three disc trinity of albums (Minerva, Victory and Bounty) being released by Manchester band The Speed of Sound. Rock At Night reviewed Minerva saying,  “the band has forged a sound that is more than just a sum of familiar indie parts, in many ways making it their own.”  The single “The Same River” is from Victory and the song is described below:

Anti-nostalgia with feet planted firmly in the now, the triple guitar parts relay in a cascade over each other as does the water in the river of time that it is simply not possible to step into twice. It has moved and you too have changed. The name is the same but nothing else remains. Not a new concept, being 2,500 years old, but living in the past is not an option. Remembering with fondness is possible but the past can not be recreated.

From the supremely danceable Underground through the unabashed sensuality of Monsoon to the gothic lounge jazz of Permafrost and the strangely linked pairing of Apocalypse Acropolis and Apocalypse Metropolis, on to the orange and sandalwood wisps of masala rock in Rock Paper Scissors, acoustic powered spaceflight in From The Cradle To The Stars, the reckless garage punk punch of Go For It, the data scraping warning of X-Y Axis, the post-nostalgia of The Same River and swaggering rock with a pinch of Brazil in A Walk By The Sea, while E to F displays glam rock tendencies and a pinball metaphor before the soaring harmonies of Empathic Reaction and ending with the triumphant  more
