Review: Retrosaint – False Start – Release date: August 27, 2024
Many listeners might be under the wrong impression that coming up with an excellent, easy-flowing pop/rock single is as easy as eating a piece of lime key pie.
Unfortunately, it is quite a bit more complicated than that. You not only have to have the talent and imagination to come up with a good tune, but be able to execute it in an almost perfect manner and at the same time respect all the rules and restrictions that are required to qualify it as a pop song worth listening.
Nashville artist Retrosaint, aka songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist David Ross (who is supported by Jonny Lutz – Electric guitars, Drums, Bass and Frances Takemoto – Violin) does come up with such a pop gem on their latest single ‘False Start.’
It presents all the elements a good (even great) pop song should have – imagination talent and respects all the requirements often cited as the ones a true pop(rock) song should have.
If this is a sign of what we should expect from Ross, we will be in for a (pop) treat.
