Interview: John Armstrong of The Speed of Sound – Recorded September 16, 2024
Rock At Night has been following the Mancunian band The Speed of Sound for years and wanted to know more about their trilogy album A Cornucopia-Victory, Minerva, Bounty. You can see Rock At Night’s review of Minerva HERE.
The band describes their music as “Future-Retro-Modernist garage-psych” but we like to describe it as “music for smart people” due to the rich lyrics that utilize metaphors and often touch on socially conscious topics. The band consists of John Armstrong (guitars and vocals), Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar), and John Broadhurst (drums).
In this interview, John Armstrong of The Speed of Sound discusses the album trilogy Cornucopia, socially relevant songs like “Clickbait” and “West Wind,” the history of the band, and more!
