Review: The Hype’s single/video “Something in the Water” – Release date October 16, 2024
Australian band 3REE, consisting of duo Mitch Volcan (vocals, guitar) and Sean Tighe (drums), had a very successful year in 2023. The band recorded with heroes like Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens (“Set This Place on Fire”) and toured North American with alternative/post-hardcore stalwarts The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. In 2024, the band did an about-face by changing their name to The Hype, and taking their music in a new direction.
The Hype released their single “Something in the Water” on October 16th.
Rock At Night says: With rhythmic piano synth intro, the song builds with and guitar riffs, and a haunting melody, before climaxing with a scorching chorus that asks, “How I’m gonna’ win when I know you’re gonna take it all, there’s something in the water…” The song is really head-bopping rhythmic like Twenty One Pilots but also has the melodic intensity of Bring Me The Horizon. The band is really worth checking out!
