Review: VEER’s single ‘Pet Sematary’ – October 30, 2024
Remaking a song initially recorded by a Music Hall of Fame band is no small feat, but the rock band VEER has achieved what only a few bands can. Their rendition of the Ramones’ ‘Pet Sematary’ is a testament to their musical prowess. They have managed to infuse the song with fresh energy, breathing new life into the classic while staying true to the original’s spirit.
Each VEER member brings a unique talent, making their version of ‘Pet Sematary’ a fascinating reinterpretation. Vocalist Ron Malfi, a standout in the rock scene, brings his distinctive style to the song while still echoing the spirit of Joey Ramone. Drummer Jon Malfi’s impeccable timekeeping and powerful drumming give the song the necessary drive. Guitarist Ryan Fowler’s high-energy playing and electrifying guitar solo add a new dimension to the song. Christian Mathis’s solid bass playing and Jon Malfi’s drumming form a rhythm section that is second to none.
VEER’s version of ‘Pet Sematary’ is more than just a cover. It’s a successful reinterpretation that captures the essence of the beloved classic while adding a unique VEER twist. This is a testament to the band’s creative flair and deep respect for the original, as they manage to reinterpret the song in a way that is uniquely theirs while still honoring the Ramones.
