Review: J.C. Miller – Asphalt Confidential – Release date: November 1, 2024
Taking that wide open road route both musically, and in day to day life seems to work quite fine for Los Angeles artist J.C. Miller on his latest release ‘Asphalt Confidential.’
That musical open, wide road takes him through what some might call ‘standard’ combination of things roots enveloped in a rock setting – blues, country, Americana, and all that includes. The seven songs here swing and sway with that bluesy guitar swagger that you can get hardly get tired of.
Sure, it is a road that has been taken before, but it such a well-worn road, full of memories and recollections that yo never mind taking over and over again.
Miller is a seasoned songwriter who has crafted music for renowned brands like Levi’s, Coca-Cola and Nike, JC Miller now finds himself turning his focus towards his own artistic vision.
That is one of the reasons his music here works, while the other one lies in the fact that it was a collaborative effort involving famed producer Marty Rifkin, perhaps best known for his work with Tom Petty, Glen Campbell and Jewel, in addition to playing pedal steel guitar in Bruce Springsteen’s The Sessions Band.
Whatever the case is, you just need to take that open road with J.C. Miller.
