Review: Lord Sonny The Unifier’s album – You Were Born to Save Your Life – Release date January 1, 2025
If you were keen on ‘Keep It Fierce,’ the last single from Brooklyn’s Lord Sonny The Unifier, released at the tail end of last year, you’ll be even more keen on the band’s latest album ‘You Were Born To Save Your Life.’
After all, that single was hand-picked to announce this album and it was a telling sign of what were are getting to hear here.
Band’s main man Greg Jiritano not only expands the sound the band created here, but also fitted in a lyrical concept – the album is written from the perspective of a sort of time traveler or someone who’s just bumping into the wild perspective of the society we live in at this moment.
At the same time, along with their post-punk slash Americana base, Lord Sonny The Unifier add more than just touches of psych rock, psychobilly and even goth. As they put it themselves – it is a musical melding of Lemmy-meets-Eagles of Death Metal-meets Joy Division, and it works quite well, thank you.
