Atlanta’s beloved Gringo Star recently shared “I Sleep To Dream“, the second song from their upcoming new album, Sweethearts, out May 2nd via Dizzybird Records. The video is by Searing Sun and is a Dash Studio production, featuring animation by George Baker III. Nick Furgiuele of the band tells Magnet Magazine, “It’s a cautionary tale about the benefits of no expectations, and a reminder that you can always care less in order to be happily surprised by nearly anything.”
Sweethearts is the band’s second post-COVID album, and carries us back to a better time, simpler and happier, although at times there’s a melancholy and sad imagery here, too. Last month, the band shared the first single, the peaceful optimism of “Blood Moon“. Many of the tracks on the album may have a dream-like quality, but don’t kid yourself, these are complex songs which get better with every listen, as the lyrical and musical nuances seep into your consciousness. In a world in which the divisions among us have become the rallying cries for many, isn’t it time we turn back to the love and deep emotions which bind us together?
