On January 20, 2016, the Second Annual Dick Wagner “Remember the Child” Memorial Concert was held at the Fillmore Detroit. The event, which benefits the Children’s Miracle Network and greater Detroit area children’s hospital, featured a star-studded line-up of musicians like Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent), the Frost, Scott Morgan (the Rationals), Jimmie Bones (Kid Rock’s Twisted BrownTrucker Band), Grammy winner Mike Farris, musical director & Grammy nominee Paul Brown, Johnny “Bee” Badanjek (Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels, the Rockets), Jean Beauvoir (Plasmatics, Little Steven’s Disciples of Soul), Micki Free (Shalamar), Peter Keys (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Pat Lewis (Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye), Dick Wagner’s son, Robert Wagner, Maryann Cotton, Ray Goodman, David Winans II, Muruga Booker, Dennis Burr and more!
The “Remember the Child” Concert honored the memory of legendary Michigan guitarist Dick Wagner, renowned for his work with the Bossmen and the Frost as well as his lead guitar playing and songwriting with Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, Aerosmith, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Burton Cummings, Mark Farner and Meat Loaf to name a few. Wagner co-wrote seven out of Cooper’s nine biggest hits, including “Only Women Bleed” and “I Never Cry,” plus Air Supply’s “Just As I Am,” and Nils Lofgren’s seminal hit “Shine Brightly.” In his lifetime, Dick donated his talent generously to benefit the lives of children and others. Those that remember Wagner want to carry on his tradition of combining music and his devotion to children.
