Rock At Night continues to support classic punk bands and was really happy to finally see Stiff Little Fingers. I was touched after the Paris-Bataclan terrorist tragedy when Stiff Little Fingers did not cancel their concert in Paris. Lead singer Jake Burns was quoted: “Having grown up in Northern Ireland in the 70s, I remember bands not coming to play because of the conflict.” I was so impressed with this I knew when the band would make it to London, we’d have to cover them. I have even more respect now for this fantastic punk band!

The hardcore take their place at the barrier, the rest in position at the bar – either in the venue or down the road – as Ricky Warwick took to the stage playing in the dark with his band the Almighty playing a selection of tracks including covers from Black Star Riders as the bars empty the venue filled steadily. As Stiff Little Finger took to the stage members of the crowd partook in a ritual of throwing beer at the band–personally I prefer my beer internally, but maybe that’s just me. It certainly didn’t seem to affect the band who played an energetic set dissecting their discography with fan favourites beginning the venue to a fever pitch.
