The Ries Brothers, a powerful multi-talented duo that carries on a Rock and Roll Legacy! This is music that moves the old and young alike!

Rock at Night caught up with the Ries Brothers and their friend Ella Jet, another performer backstage at the Gasparilla Music Festival on Saturday, March 13th, 2016. These two young men form a powerful duo that hails from Clearwater, Florida. They have opened for some huge names in the rock music scene such as David Cook, Daughtry, Los Lonely Boys, REO Speedwagon, Little River Band, Firefall, the Edgar Winter Band and The Family Stone just to name a few. They have received recognition, most recently from the Tampa Bay Times who named them as one of the best artists in the past year.

In a surprisingly unique way, they mix the genres up and play rock, blues, funk and reggae. They find their inspiration from classic rock and roll icons and reggae artists; Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and Bob Marley for example and socially conscious music like Michael Franti, Jack Johnson and so many more.

Charlie is the lead vocalist, drummer and keyboard player, often playing the two instruments at once and perfecting the method of doing the bottom (bass) with the keyboards a la Ray Manzarek of the Doors. We talked about the local connection of the Doors to the city of Clearwater. Kevin plays guitar and ukulele, sings backup and is co-writer on their original songs. He is the shyer of the two and his face lights up when he talks about music. These young men are a force to be reckoned with and are totally dedicated to their craft. We are waiting for even more!

Check out their site for links to their social networks and info on upcoming gigs.

Don’t miss them!
