Bands Under the RadarRock At Night is proud to introduce a new band to keep on the radar—UK indie alternative band MassMatiks. I just watched their video for “Gunning For You” and listened to their new single “4 AM” which was just released on June 17, 2016. If the song “4 AM” is a preview of “what’s to come” then, I’m sold.

The song “4 AM” starts off slowly with lead singer George Peploe talking about picking up a ‘drunk call’ from an ex-girlfriend at 4 A.M.–and he’s pretty pissed and disgusted. The girlfriend seemed ‘excited to tell him something’ because she was ‘seeing someone else and now [she] is bragging’. This is sooo real life, which I love!   He continues saying ‘I’ve got to stop picking up these drunk calls because it’s getting boring’ as the song builds into a crescendo and bloody breaks loose! The song gets rocking and is infectious with almost a singalong chorus. Lots of fun!

4 AM

A little background on George Peploe—He is a British kickboxing champion who delivers biting social commentary, often spoken word, leaping into soaring, hook-laden melodies and taking in subjects from the naked greed of rampant capitalism to spurned ex-lovers. Joe Turner (guitar), Martin Linch (bass) and Josh Stagg (Drums) lay a dynamic platform for George’s universal tales, taking influence from the likes of the aforementioned Slaves, through Royal Blood, to Bring Me The Horizon.

Their second single precedes a tour across the UK with Rory Indiana, kicking off in on the 17th June. MassMatiks will also headline London’s Old Blue Last on the 13th July before heading to Y Not Festival on July 21st.
