BRUUT! brings their jazz that rocks to Simplon Groningen

By Rick Slagter, Rock At Night Groningen, The Netherlands Correspondent

BRUUT! rocks the jazz at Simplon Groningen, The Netherlands.  BRUUT! is Dutch slang for ‘cool!’ and it stands for a popular jazz quartet that plays in clubs, music festivals, jazz venues. What is their secret? BRUUT! They make ‘blended jazz’ which contains surf, rock, stoner, danceable grooves, all without loosing the touch with bop, using saxes, Hammond, upright bass and drums.

The band has been around for about 8 years , played all over the world, and released their most recent album Superjazz on February 3rd in their ‘hometown’ Amsterdam. It was sold out, the audience was dancing, and there was a run on the vinyl and CD albums after the concert.

BRUUT! is busy with their release tour in The Netherlands. RAN shot the band at Simplon Groningen, where BRUUT! was ‘rocking the jazz’ on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

BRUUT! is Maarten Hogenhuis (saxes), Folkert Oosterbeek (Hammond), Thomas Rolff (bass), Felix Schlarmann (drums).
