Venue: Mohegan Sun Arena-Uncasville, Connecticut-Saturday December 1, 2018
One of rocks most iconic bands, Foreigner, filled the stage and brought down the house at Mohegan Sun Arena, Saturday night! The tour, Double Vision: Then and Now, brought a special concert featuring all current band members plus the original band members who helped to put one of the most popular rock bands on the map more than forty years ago.
True to the Now and Then concept, the show opened with the current Foreigner members, Kelly Hanson (vocals) Tom Gimbel (guitar), Jeff Pilson (bass), Mike Bluestein (keyboard) and Chris Frazier (drums). This being the last Foreigner show in the current tour, the band was especially loose and Kelly Hanson’s vocals were standout on “Cold As Ice”, “Head Games”, and “Waiting For A Girl Like You”. Hanson mentioned this format provided the band an opportunity to do some deeper cuts from the setlist such as “That Was Yesterday” and “Headknocker”
Turning back the clock, the original Foreigner band took over the stage to a thunderous applause from the audience. Shouts of “Looou” “Looou” rang out of the crowd in recognition of founder Lou Gramm. Joining Lou on stage, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, Ian McDonald, Rick Wills, and Mick Jones rocked through some of the best-selling songs from the bands most famous albums.“Blue Morning, Blue day”, Double Vision” and “Dirty White Boy” bring back the memories that make it “Feel Like The First Time” for both long-time fans all over again.
A special encore of “I Want To Know What Love Is” featured both the current and original bands, as well as the fantastic, “Norwich Free Academy” choir completely filled the stage with musicians of all ages!
The camaraderie between both versions of Foreigner, was on full display as they closed out this amazing concert with “Hot Blooded” hugging and laughing, it was obvious they enjoyed playing together.
An incredible concert, Foreigner’s Double Vision: Then and Now is night full of memorable hits performed by rock icons spanning the last forty years. As 2018 comes to a close, Now and Then was one of the most entertaining shows of the year!
