The UK’s most popular pianist and former Squeeze band member, Jools Holland will be launching this year’s International Eisteddfod in Llangollen. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, which will be held July 1-7, is an annual festival of music, dance and culture, which includes competitions showcasing choirs and dance troupes from across the globe. The festival attracts approximately 4,000 performers and as many as 50,000 visitors throughout the week. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod promotes peace and goodwill between nations to provide education and knowledge of the arts through its annual festival of music, folklore and dance. The festival has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Nobel Prize for Peace.
This year’s week-long festival line-up features some of the world’s most internationally renowned musicians, including French-Mexican star tenor, Rolando Villazón, salsa, pop and flamenco outfit, Gipsy Kings, and award-winning Celtic music band, Jamie Smith’s MABON.
