To honor this momentous record and celebrate Gaye’s life and legacy, Motown/Ume introduced on May 21, 2021, exactly 50 years from the album’s original release, a charge of releases that both conserve and reimagine the essence of What’s Going On.
It features incredible art for each track – all from different animators/artists including director Tim Fox.

Young Guru (One of the most influential people in hip-hop, working closely with genre defining artists) is remixing the track “Whats Going On.” This will be announced on 5.21 and released in June.
Jac Ross will be filming a cover of “What’s Going On”. This will be released on his TikTok (HERE) on 5.21.
Visual artist, Dreph, is unveiling a mural in Cantebury Crescent Brixton, UK that will be announced on 5.21. The art will represent the musical message of WGO, while also paying homage to the 1981 Brixton Uprising and the social justice movement of today.
