New Release: “Queen of Pittsburgh” by Sony/The Orchard
Release Date: July 20, 2021
Drummer Tedi Brunetti is my kinda gal! She knows when another woman is evil and not only manifests some walloping karma to hit the unruly wench right between the eyes, but she writes a song about her–and her hair gets set on fire as the coup de grace! If you love your pop songs influenced by blues and jazz, inspired with very cool and hip lyrics and performed by a female fronted band then you just gotta hear the single, “Evil Woman” off of her newly released album “Queen of Pittsburgh!” As you watch the video for the tune, the amusing story unfolds and Tedi shows us that she is a masterful, musical storyteller.
Her first instrument was guitar, her parents thinking that drums were for boys. She proved them wrong but she is grateful for her knowledge of guitar because using one is how she writes songs. Tedi’s parents went for second careers as actors and moved to NYC and she had a drumming scholarship but dropped out of higher education to go on the road with a band. She played, toured, mingled with the greats and even wrote a song for the Clash! She describes herself as a “sober Janis Joplin meeting Steely Dan in Memphis.” To say that she has a huge amount of experience in the music industry would be an understatement.
Tedi was based out of the East Village for a while, married her guitarist and eventually made her way back to Pittsburgh to live a married life and raise her family. This latest recording is being produced by Dean Allen Sargent (Public Enemy, Taylor Dayne, Blue Oyster Cult) who also co-wrote some of the tracks and Michael Henegan (Sonny Rhodes, Lonnie Shields, Randy Lippincott). The album and single are available on all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.
