Emily Rose Martin is a young and multi-talented director, actor, singer-songwriter and artist from South Lyon, Michigan who has an incredibly personal story to tell with her very personal and poignant new album, “In This Moment.” Emily will soon be moving to New York City in the Fall of 2021 to pursue a career in the theatre industry with future plans to eventually work on Broadway.

Emily says, “This album was created over the last two years when I was in college. In that time, I turned 21, lived in another country for five months, and went through a pandemic, so needless to say there were many moments and many memories that inspired these songs. In the memories I made, I also made many new relationships with friends that became my second family. When I started writing the songs, they ended up being an ode to my time in Ithaca and a love letter to what those last two years meant to me. At the end of the day, the main inspiration behind this album is the idea of what home means, the joy of when you find it, and the worry of potentially losing it and what happens next.” She continues, “To be able to share even a little bit of my story through a vessel of art that I love is so wonderful and a huge relief. Of course I’m nervous about what people will think about it because sharing a part of me with the world feels so intimate, but it’s out weighed by the excitement I feel.”

Emily Rose has a strong voice with a beautiful lower range, an alto/contralto. “Someday” is a ballad with fiddle, guitar and piano. Very emotional song about relationships ending and parting. “Coming Back” is a folk song about love with some beautiful vocals and acoustic guitar, “Dreaming All My Worries Away” is a pop song, keyboards and guitar and her vocals stand out on this one. “Home” sounds like a pop/country song, lovely lead and backing vocals on this one. “Move On” a ballad, it could be country or pop with piano and fiddle, beautiful and emotional! She shows off her vocal range on this tune. “Wash the Pain Away” is another song that shows off Emily Rose’s vocal range–this is a tune with mostly piano and percussion; it almost sounds like a spiritual.

Emily says: “This album has been a project three years in the making, and yet it’s a culmination of everything I am so far. Every song on it is a million different moments and yet the core message is simple. Life is naturally changing all the time, so through the good, the bad, and the interesting, make sure you surround yourself with a group of people who help you build the foundation of your home. I’m so grateful for those who are mine.”

Rock at Night says: What is cool about these songs is that they can be produced and performed in any genre. Emily Rose is a songwriter, first and foremost; through her lyrics she reveals that she has a seasoned sensibility and awareness about life, quite remarkable for a young woman her age. For a debut effort, these songs are classic and this artist is establishing a career by her stellar artistry and song-crafting.

“In This Moment” was produced by super Producer/Engineer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) at legendary Pearl Sound Studios (Asking Alexandria, Eminem, Filter).
