Album Release: “Kings”

Release Date: July 23, 2021

Bernie Marsden, guitarist extraordinaire known for his work with the band Whitesnake, just released his solo blues rock album, “Kings” through Conquest Music. It is currently available on all streaming platforms and there is a Special Limited Edition Digipak CD that can be purchased from High Street and online retailers.

“Kings” is Bernie’s first solo album in 7 years and he pays homage to the Kings that inspired him early on in his career; Freddie, Albert and B.B. King. Bernie adds new life to ten of the Kings’ classic songs (like Albert King’s ‘Don’t You Lie to Me’, Freddie King’s ‘Help Me Through the Day’, and B.B. King’s classic ‘Help the Poor’). Two cuts that were inspired by the Kings’ but were written by Bernie, appear as bonus tracks on the album.

Bernie gathered seasoned musicians and recorded the tracks in a studio in Oxfordshire. This is an album that sounds bluesy, full of soul and super clean. Each track will be appreciated and studied by other musicians for years to come. Bernie created a classic!

Some stand outs were “Same Old Blues” about love gone wrong. Beautiful guitar work and vocals on this one! “Me and My Guitar” was more rock than blues, his lyrics compared his guitar to his woman. “I’ll Play the Blues For You” was a slow-hand ballad with smooth vocals and backing keyboards, poignant and plaintive.

Bernie’s ‘Inspirations‘ series will put out another album titled “CHESS” later this year. Bernie’s “Kings” was awarded 5 stars by Bluesdoodles, who called this recording, “a stupendous album of quintessential blues; a tribute to three great guitar players by a great guitar player.”

Rock at Night says: “This album is made up of songs that blues-rock aficionados will go wild over! These classics were remastered and made new again. And these tracks will be played over and over again and savored each time, even twenty, thirty years from now. We loved it!”
