New Single and Video: “Jealousy”
Release Date: Aug 27, 2021
Canvas is a New York based trio that play alternative and independent rock with a sound similar to Muse and Mariana’s Trench. The band is singer-songwriter Jerid Nowell on vocals, Billboard charting producer and keyboardist Daniel Glavin and drummer Jesse Rothman. Their music can be described as experimental rock tinged with virtually anything that sounds good. The band members have previous influences that come from bluegrass folk, punk, metal and hip-hop to name a few. Their songs range from anthems to ballads to alternative pop, rock and funk.
Nowell, on writing this song: “”Jealousy” symbolizes the moment in our minds when we lose ourselves to the buried emotions that we tend to deny are there. It references the decisions we make at weak points in our lives that we know are less dignified, yet we make them anyway to regain any semblance of control.”
The band described their creative process this way: “Our approach is different for every song. We are focused on bending genres and blending electronic/acoustic production to achieve an ever-evolving hybrid sound. We believe nothing is certain, including creation.”
CANVAS has many fans in the New York City metro and with a huge number of streams–250,000 times across various platforms; many are taking notice. Yes, they are futuristic musicians and independent entrepreneurs as they are now operating their own record label and recording studio (Penthouse Studios). With their new single “Jealousy,” Canvas lives up to how they categorize themselves: “genreless, timeless and relentless.”
Rock at Night says: “Incredible lead and backing vocals, the mood and epic guitar work make this song sound a lot like the band Muse; very futuristic hard rock but unique to Canvas. Many harmonic layers create the epic wall of sound and this song is impossible to put into a specific genre. We love it!”
