Bristol-based, multi-award-winning, genre-crossing Elles Bailey is releasing the video for her single ‘Cheats and Liars’ written with Ashton Tucker: the very first single to drop from her forthcoming album ‘Shining in the Half Light’, due for release early, 2022.
Shot at White Noise Studio, the video shows Elles lit by candlelight and dangling Edison-style lightbulbs, in autumnal hues, performing this bewitching, almost mesmeric, yet powerful song.
Rock At Night says: With a dark sultry feel, Elles Bailey delivers a smoldering blues song, with a clanking backbeat, that intrigues. The chorus hits you in the face as she describes the “world is a-turnin’ and revolution is coming through.” Written during isolation in the pandemic, Bailey speaks of frustration of living behind closed doors during a year of confusion, mixed messages, and social upheaval. “Cheats and Liars” will linger in your brain long after the song ends.

Elles co-wrote every new track on her forthcoming album, working with a rich array of collaborators. She then recorded the album in isolation at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, with her band and new producer Dan Weller, and completed it just before she gave birth to her first child. Listening to final mixes whist in hospital! “This album is about finding a new perspective, about learning to be comfortable with a different version of myself, the one without the road, the show, and the splendour.“
She may not have been able to call the road her home during lockdown and COVID rules, but Elles Bailey’s creative fires have still burned bright and inspired strong, new material, which ‘Cheats and Liars’ spearheads with serious style. Out now, on all digital platforms.
Elles will be hitting the road in autumn 2021 with her full band but two live shows will feature all the musical collaborators from the album. On the 8th Oct in Bristol and the 9th October in London. Catch this 8 piece never been seen before Bailey extravaganza! This will be something very special.

ABOUT ELLES
Elles is a smoky-voiced human dynamo, who straddles the worlds of Americana and the blues, garnering accolades in both. She recently worked with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys in Nashville, writing the song Little Piece Of Heaven with him and Bobby Wood. It won UK Americana Awards Song Of The Year. Also in 2020 she scooped Artist Of The Year from the UK Blues Awards for the second time in succession. Her singing and songwriting skills are of an equally stratospheric standard as evidenced on albums Wildfire and the garlanded UK Blues Awards, Album Of The Year, Road I Call Home. She has powered through the pandemic, releasing both a live album, Ain’t Nothin’ But, and her first child! She hopes to further her reputation as a road warrior as COVID restrictions lift. Previously she has toured with Grammy Award winner Mike Farris, The Kris Barras Band and King King. She also shared the stage with Beth Hart at Ramblin’ Man, The Temperance Movement at Swing Wespelaar and appeared at Nashville’s Americana Fest as part of the ‘House of Songs’ collaboration. Her new album is due in early 2022. There is much, much more to come from this hard-working chanteuse.
