Review: Innocent Tyler’s single/video ‘Delete Each Other Again’: EP Shake the Nerves will be released on October 22, 2021 via Arrested Youth Records
Rock At Night says: Trio Innocent Tyler releases a catchy pop-punk single “Delete Each Other Again” with a modern twist on the break-up song. Vincent Tyler not only proves he can play a mean lead guitar lick but also create an “old school” 90s pop-punk feel–nasal SoCal vocals and all.
Northwest Arkansas pop-punk band Innocent Tyler release Shake The Nerves available October 22nd on all platforms. See the video for “Delete Each Other Again” featuring guest vocals from Dollyrot Kelly Ogden here:
“When I wrote these songs I wrote with a sense of urgency. It felt like I had to put these words down on paper and into the music. I was on the other side of a bad breakup, and this was me working through that plus a number of other crucial events in my life. These are true stories,” says band founder, guitarist and vocalist Vincent Tyler.
Shake The Nerves was produced by lead guitarist and founding member of The Dollyrots. Luis Cabezas and recorded at Harmonic Mermaid Studio in Tampa, Florida. “When Vincent first approached me about producing this EP, I knew it was going to be something that carries a lot of impact. He sent me at least fifteen demos, and we broke those down and built them back up into an absolutely killer five-song EP. Shake the Nerves is a wild ride from beginning to end; it’ll make you rock out, smile like a maniac, and hit repeat,” says Cabezas.
Innocent Tyler’s self-funded earlier releases Make a Scene (2018) and Pills and Cheeto Dust (2020) also produced by Cabezas received significant radio play on Sirius/XM which helped to build a dedicated following of fans across the globe. The band formed in 2016 but his vision started years earlier, “I realized my dream was to become a musician at nine years old when I first met Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup. I was the youngest kid at the show by at least a decade, and I knew every word to every song. Jaret took notice and gave me this “fan of the day pack,” which was just some stickers and a beanie, but I was totally blown away! I saw him on stage that night with his crazy hair and guitar, and at that moment I knew that was what I wanted to do,” explains Tyler.
Seems like the feeling is mutual, “I have known Vincent since before he can probably remember. His dad would bring him to Bowling For Soup shows where he was obviously studying, observing, and planning. Quietly. Intensely. Without any of us knowing what was going through his little mind. Fast forward to now. Here he is, shredding on guitar and writing lines in songs I wish I had written. I have watched Vincent Tyler grow up and could not be prouder of him as a musician and a person. He writes with passion, from the heart, and plays guitar like a fucking fury. Now is the time to hop on this train…Gonna be a fun ride,” says Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick.
Years after their initial meeting Reddick got Tyler the gig as lead guitar player in Erik Chandler’s (Bowling For Soup bassist) band. After a few years of touring and learning the ropes, Tyler decided it was time to record all the songs he had been writing, leading to the genesis of Innocent Tyler. “I met Luis Cabezas when I was playing for Erik, I was already a huge Dollyrots fan, and we really clicked,” says Tyler.
Sounds like it’s reciprocated, “I can listen to it over and over and just smile. It’s great songwriting, production, and most of all feel. I really like it! It’s an A+,” says The Dollyrots vocalist/bass player and Little Stevens Underground Garage radio host Kelly Ogden.
“My influences shine through on this record, but I feel I’ve really made a sound that’s my own, one that takes the old school elements I grew up with and brings them to the future,” says Tyler.
