By Connor Shelton, Rock At Night St. Louis
With their recent signing to Ivy League Records, The Beths have just released their first new song in over two years.
Rock at Night Says: Bright, fuzzed out, and energetic, “A Real Thing” cleverly juxtaposes the cheery power-pop that the Beths have made their bread and butter with a yearning lyric that addresses the concerns associated with global warming. Accompanying this social commentary is a video from Annabel Kean and Callum Delvin which screams “home movie” given the shaky use of handheld to get shots of the beach, moving cars, little snowmen, and whole slew of animals. The direction ultimately works to bring about a subtle pang of nostalgia and emphasize the childlike desire for things to be safe and cozy. Watch the delightful video below.
In addition to the new single, the Beths will also be touring around the world for the next few months.
