Review: Paul Supreme – “Ninja Sword”-Release date; June 2, 2023
Milwaukee’s singer/songwriter Paul Supreme and his latest single ‘Ninja Sword’ reiterates a very evident fact about music these days – young and upcoming artists are not afraid to mix and match different musical genres, often to an excellent effect.
As far as Supreme is concerned, that should not be such a surprise, as his father and uncle were members of a rock fans staple The Frogs, a band hailed by the likes of Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins and Kurt Cobain.
Himself, Supreme already has a solid musical experience, with his album ‘HWY 100′ being his most accomplished to date.
So, Supreme had a predisposition to create some good music, and that is exactly what he does here. Picking up on some eighties’ threads from The Cars to Human League, and throwing in some more current elements, and then firmly presses his tongue behind his cheek with his lyrics, to come up with quite a catchy and subtly arranged song.
‘Ninja Sword’ just might be a tip of a musical iceberg, but a nice introduction to Paul Supreme.
