Review: Frida Kill’s album – Kill! Kill! – Release date: December 1, 2023
A modern, female response to the Ramones? Well, don’t look any further than the four girls from NYC that go under the name of Frida Kill and their latest album ‘Kill! Kill!’
Yet, actually, Frida Kill are much more than just another Ramones knock-off, picking of not only all things post-punk, but also garage rock and the avant-garde rock of bands like L7, Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, Coathangers, The Slits, Hole, FIDLAR, Together Pangea, Plasmatics, X, PJ Harvey, ESG and The Breeders.
And to point directly to all the routes their music is taking, the girls gave their band a fitting name Frida (Kahlo) and (Bikini) Kill. All the above is to be witnessed (and heard ) in these 12 brief and not so brief pop gems that Frida Kill were able to produce on this album.
