Interview: John Ramsey of Orange Animal-February 20, 2024
Formed in 2017, Cleveland’s rock band Orange Animal is making a name for themselves in the Midwest. Their third album Still Frames, which was released on February 16th, is full of acoustic rock-driven ballads that touch the soul. Vocalist John Ramsey’s baritone voice is rich and textured–think Eddie Vedder’s solo album Into the Wild.
Rock At Night chats with Ramsey to learn about the new album. In the interview, he discusses the origin of the band’s name, the stories behind songs on their recent album Still Frames, using string accompaniment and collaborating with musicians, writing music during the pandemic, playing at the infamous Viper Room, and their upcoming tour.
Orange Animal is John Ramsey (guitar/vocals), Bill Derivan (bass guitar), Chris Shaheen (guitar) and Adam Thurman (drums/percussion).
