Music Review: Megan McDuffee’s Album Crimson Legacy – Release date: October 11, 2024

If you are a film and gaming buff, you just might have encountered the music of Megan McDuffee, without really knowing it, as the composer/songwriter has been honing her craft within those realms for some 15 years now and has worked on such projects as River City Girls, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Bachelorette, and more. That is, of course, if you haven’t previously run into her first solo album proper.

Yet, if you haven’t, ‘Crimson Legacy,’ her second solo album proper presents an excellent chance to hear what McDuffeee is all about.

And that ‘all’ just might mean exactly that as she cites artists like Puscifer, Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, The Cure, IAMX, Infected Mushroom, and Zeromancer. Actually, no less, but probably more than that, as McDuffee draws inspiration from the left-field movies from seventies up to nineties she grew up with and turns them into slanted, but definitely danceable set of tracks, with her not only presenting her compositional, but also vocal capabilities.

Actually you can make your own film soundtracks out of these.
