As you might have guessed, this wasn’t my typical assignment. Although there was some performance, it was mostly mingling with the OGs of Tampa’s metal scene, especially those who helped earn Tampa Bay’s reputation as the Death Metal Capital of the World! It was fun and interesting talking with Ben Meyer, Doug Lee, Aaron and Barbara Robinson, Maggot, and a host of others from the scene, but I will tell you that the Museum is more of a moveable feast. They have future plans for exhibitions in Orlando and Miami, and would like to make it an annual event in Tampa. For updates, head on over to http://www.tampabaymuseumofmetal.com/ or find them on Facebook. And I’m sure the headbangers at Magnanimous Brewing of Seminole Heights wouldn’t mind you visiting anytime, even if the exhibit isn’t there!
