Title: “Prophets of the Apocalypse

Release Date: March 15, 2025

Kristian Montgomery and the Winterkill Band, originally from eastern Massachusetts and now from the Green Mountains of Vermont is a favorite here at Rock at Night, and the lead artist is a prolific and very talented songwriter. We have reviewed this band’s five albums and Kristian has written a total of 67 songs in five years–he’s been busy! You can check out the previous write-ups right HERE.

Prophets of the Apocalypse, the band’s sixth offering has five songs that are a departure from the country-rock, roots rock, Americana feel of Kristian’s previous songs and the band’s recording style. This EP will drop on March 15th. “Leaving Texas” is the first single and it was released a few weeks ago. The EP was recorded at the Underground Studios in Randolph, Vermont with help from producer Vincent Freeman and artists included: Jake Hill on bass and keys, James Pesler on drums, John Clark on guitars and Kristian doing vocals and guitars.

From Kristian, “…the EP is the deconstruction of goodbyes and the promise of love.

Other tracks: “Rock That Doesn’t Roll Clean,” “Bitch Done Broke,” “Cold Day in Hell,” and “Foolish Devil.”

Rock at Night says: “Kristian’s songwriting has really blossomed into more of a rock and roll vibe with tinges of Country and Americana throughout. The lyrics are about relationships gone wrong and boundaries being set with lots of hooks and smooth vocals for emphasis.  I loved Bitch Done Broke and the guitar work on every song. Can’t wait to hear these songs on the radio soon as this band is already getting regular radio rotation in Denmark, Kristian’s second home!”
