Venue: Hope & Anchor, Islington, London–November 9, 2015
Nigel Thomas, singer/songwriter and famed for being the ex-frontman of ‘The Foxes’ knows exactly what he’s doing. Playing an intimate, friendly and very cool venue in Islington on a Monday night was a winner. Launching his new single “Fever”, the event unfortunately stumbled on a few technical issues with the lighting and sound (which I’m pleased they sorted out as perfection can not be chanced), Nigel, later than scheduled, pulled off a truly remarkable set!
First impressions, other than the fact Nigel is aesthetically outstanding, he’s a laid back sort of guy, who even comes across, initially as possibly a tad shy. After the first song had warmed up his dedicated audience, the ‘shy’ Nigel must of been a figment of my imagination! This truly talented individual, who has been classed as an indie singer, seems to rock it with his guitar, like, of course, he’s been doing it for years, which he has! You get taken in by his unique tones, whilst also feeling the emotion that Nigel passionately delivers.
Even though Nigel’s performance was long awaited, the crowd appreciated his existence. He is an artist that instantly grows on you (no waiting around for this young man to ‘sink into your head’). It’s like a brain freeze hits, a power you don’t forget! Nigel Thomas has ‘it’, a real delight, a breath of ‘indie’ fresh air, who, in my opinion is capable of sniffing the ‘rock’ air too!
