Interview with Natasha “Tash” Petrou of the UK band Casual Wednesday – November 21, 2023

Natasha Petrou of Casual Wednesday

Rock At Night was lucky to catch the tail end of North London band Casual Wednesday while at the New Cross Inn in August.  That evening, the venue was showcasing feminist punk and/or alt-rock bands.

After listening to the band’s debut EP Visions, we were very interested in speaking with singer/songwriter Natasha “Tash” Petrou.  She describes the band’s music as “indie dream rock” and is influenced by such bands as Parramore and ALVVAYS. We are digging the catchy choruses, dreamy melodies, and jangly guitar sound. Good stuff!

In the interview, Tash Petrou discusses the origin of the band’s name; how Drew Barrymore, roller derby, and an accident kickstarted her music career; Essex girls; the EP Visions; gigging in London; support from queer bands; opening for Republica at the O2 Islington; and new music. Catch Casual Wednesday on November 27th in Shoreditch.
