Rock at Night spoke to Dave Mason, formerly of the band Traffic and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member as of 2004. He has played with just about everyone throughout his long career to include Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Leon Russell, Fleetwood Mac, Delaney and Bonnie and so many more that would be impossible to list here.
At the age where most people retire, he is still going strong and set to release a new project on November 20th–“Alone Together Again” to celebrate his initial solo studio album, “Alone Together” that was released 50 years ago. You can already pre-order this album (CLICK HERE).
Dave Mason: “The main reason I wanted to re-imagine this album was that I was never quite satisfied with how my vocals sounded. I like the songs and I like the performances but I was so young and it was my first solo album. The older I got the more the vocals bothered me and so I finally thought that I would sing the songs the way I first imagined them when I wrote them.
“It’s a more accurate representation of what I think I sound like. And, of course, with the years comes a maturity and knowing in my voice that I think gives the songs an all new depth. It may have taken me 50 years, but I am now truly satisfied with all of the songs and I really count this as one of my most satisfying artistic achievements.“
This album includes superbly crafted “re-visioned” songs which show over and over again that truly well written songs survive the test of time and keep being performed by artists generations later. Dave also knows the importance of social media and advertising and has been participating in fan chats once a month, so fans can join him on his social networks, interact and ask questions.
